Why building a political alliance?

Our country counted nearly 400 political parties after the introduction of the multi-party system in the years 1990. Roughly 200 survived after regularization requested by the transition government.

In most of democratic system in the world, there is a bipolarization of political groups.

For example, in France, we speak about the “left party” and the “right” party. This led to a classification of political entity in two main “parties” with some small distinctive entities. This classification is based on the nature of ideology driving the political party policy.

In the same way, in the USA, we have the democrats and the republicans parties based on their ideology. The adoption, or not, of liberalism as economic policy make the fundamental difference between both parties. Anyway, some independent movement exists which cannot be classified in the democrat’s side or in the republican’s side. But the foreign policy of developed country is independent of political party in power. It is referred as “national policy”. This is the example of application of the democracy.

Overcoming the traditional ideological bases and face the challenge of our time - being pragmatic but especially rational.

It is known that “Starved stomach does not ears”. Poverty has tremendous impact on the Congolese politician psychic system. How can we asked somebody who did not eat, or who ddid not have any other alternative solution to leave peacefully a position obtained by the fact of belonging to a former military group transformed to political group?.

All the decisions taken by the Congolese political leader - on the ground - are influenced by their primary needs: how to feed themselves, feeds their kids, how to pay for their schools or medical care, hove to move, how to enjoy life? It is difficult, in such circumstances, to classify each other with respect to “imported” ideology completely founded and experienced abroad. Those ideologies are the result of centuries experiences and improvement. While passing through some hard time, established democratic country are not always as perfect it may seems.

Getting together today is a challenge to meet.

By getting together we will be able to complete the major point for our country: the defense of "our nation unity and the integrity ".

It’s a luxury for us to choose one of the traditional ideologies today. Which kind of ideology a starved man or woman can correctly develop, defend and apply when he or she does not even have a minimum vital? The challenge for us is of another nature today.

In history, we can recall that: worker facing bad work condition, gather together and create union to defend their job and working conditions against their employers. This is the base of the socialist ideology. By the time, some became socialist to defend their working tools and their rights. Facing some type of society, some chose to share everything and remove individual interest through community interest. This creates the communism. All these choice was made to meet the needs of those periods of the history. People gathered in spite of their diversity. By making much concessions and sacrifices. We have to take up the challenge of our time: "Rebuild and develop DRC".

Partners’ mutual respect, a must - a choice.

Our alliance will last longer only if we respect each others: small and large entity, the most powerful and weakest man or woman, intellectuals and working people, religious believers and nonbelievers, politicians and the civil society. When there is fire in the house, we initially seek to extinguish it. Then later we search the cause of the fire to protect us for the future. Our country is burning and we need to get together to extinguish this fire.

To access the top of the power in the state, some Congolese choose an alliance with our country’s enemy to fulfill their personal interests. Thus, Congolese then ended up facing a snake with several heads each one reporting to a regional master. If we had only one group of rebellion, we would have had a vision, an analysis and a reading different from our recent history. Political conciliation would have been found quickly before reaching 3,5 to 5 million deaths. The number of divergent interests would have been lesser. This would have facilitated the dialogue between the government and the armed rebellion.

In front of the multiplicity of the rebellions - an easy means of accessing and sharing of power chosen by their instigators - we will oppose an alliance of reasons for the national interest and the interest of our traditional partners. Our alliance will be strong if everyone meet - in its interests - in the group and work for the achievement of the objectives of Unic. A leadership with good faith is a key of success. Cement on the basis of which our society needs to be founded. The permanent dialogue will enable us to avoid: the bursting, the dissensions, the awkwardness’s and the dissatisfactions in the political arena.

What links us is stronger than what separates us.

Solving twenty percent (20%) of our problems will bring the solution to eighty percent (80%) of our problems – This is the 80/20-rule known in the business. We have not invented “hot water”. We will not invent the democracy. Others tried it out and simply try to observe the basic rules: the independence of justice, enterprise freedom and social justice.

Let us work initially together, on twenty percent (20%) of points on which we agree: building schools, hospitals, hotels for our guest, stadium and roads. In short let us build our basic infrastructures.

Then, we will take time to solve the eighty percent (80%) of small but locking problems that are source of our disagreements.

This is the base of the alliance that we propose to our partners.

Weaker or stronger, you will be partner of a great political movement. Our strength will be that of the weakest link of our group. To remain strong, the weakest link of Unic must be stronger than the weakest link of other parties.

Development of a country, is alike a relay race athletics competition. It is the team that has one of her slower runner running faster than those of the other competitor’s team that wins the race. Victory being based on the sum of the times carried out by each teammate.

It is known that a chain breaks only by its weakest link.

Contribution of each member of our group in the final vote result counts and will count.
